Wednesday Nov 03, 2021
Jason’s journey started at 19, he had already found himself hopelessly addicted to drugs and the consequences had left him with 2 alternatives. Go on, fighting a losing battle of addiction or get help facing the things he’s been running from for as long as he could remember. Choosing the latter he sought to heal as best he could. The journey wasn’t easy but he found hope in the seeking of growth. As his sobriety grew so did his passion for helping others. He started to mentor people with addictions while still seeking guidance from his own mentors and eventually became a group facilitator in the treatment industry.
From there he held various positions in the treatment industry while continuing to seek inward for growth.
Around 15 years sober Jason had hit a spiritual and professional plateau. As he sought to broaden his understanding of self, he came to an unlikely teacher, someone he had know for years but didn’t particularly like. Understanding that, sometimes the teachers we need come in all shapes and sizes, he set to work learning about meditation. It didn’t come easy at first, as a matter of fact it was extremely difficult the first few times trying to quiet his mind. Jason was determined and kept practicing, slowly he was able to find deeper levels of peace. Although it took some time to find consistency in this practice he eventually started to see the value of making it a priority in his daily routine. As he continues to deepen and broaden his meditation experience Jason found new teachers, turned to the internet and YouTube to have different experiences with meditation. Through this seeking he found different reasons for meditation including, box breathing used by Navy Seals to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, connecting to the subconscious for core belief healing, passive listening to help find guidance and Hemi-sync to help with clarity of mind. These and many other practices helped and continue to help Jason find not only deeper understanding of self but also how to be a better version of himself.
Throughout the last 5 years of his journey Jason has become a Usi Reiki master, certified addiction counselor, freelance photographer, clothing brand owner and will soon have recordings of his own meditations available on YouTube. None of these things seemed attainable before then, because he had not been able to find something to focus his direction and drive. That, he found through meditation.
