The Overcomers podcast interviews people about overcoming adversity. We believe that adversity can become your advantage. We ask people to tell us how their past has built muscles instead of scars. The topics that we cover include abuse, addiction, incarceration, depression, anxiety, health problems, loss of income, loss of employment. Each person will share how they navigated these situations in life to become the Overcomer that they are today.

This is the first episode of Overcomer’s Podcast where we’re highlighting members of the Journey333 team. Today we have Ricardo Mullinax, a man that I met in El Salvador on a mission trip, and who now owns a Journey location in Indiana. At the time, he was down on himself, feeling bad about his health and his fitness. So I offered him a chance to do some workouts with me, and everything after that is history.
After we met on our first missionary trip, we actually sent him all the equipment he would need to workout from home, and he was following some online videos we had to continue his workouts, and we taught him about nutrition and how to lose weight. Now he’s down 40lbs of weight in total, and he’s gained plenty of muscle. Because of his experience with losing weight, and how much the Journey method helped him, he decided to open up his own franchise in Columbia City, Indiana.
Ricardo went through a lot of hard times. He had a divorce, moved to a new area, and had two battles for custody of his children. He started a Journey333 franchise, and then the pandemic shut the whole world down 3 months later. He has gotten through all of that with discipline, gratitude, exercise, and prayer. How often do you see someone go through so much and come out still grateful and successful on the other side?
I’m proud to have Ricardo as part of the Journey team, and I’m proud to call him my friend. I only see good things for him from here on out. Not to say that there won’t be difficult times, but, in the end, he’s always going to come out on top. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Ricardo, and thank you for always being who you are. I’ll talk to you soon!
