Vampiro: [about the kids singing and clapping after being rescued] Do you hear that? That's the sound of freedom.
Tim Ballard: Amen.
This dialogue is from the newly released “Sound of Freedom” movie about a former U.S. government agent who embarks on a mission to rescue children from sex traffickers in Colombia.
Movies can sometimes be reflections of real life. One sad reality is that there are people who will exploit someone’s weakness for their own gain and pleasure. Yet, there are also people such as our episode’s guest, Andrea Sutton who along with her team, shows everyone that there is hope and have helped many people who've gone through tough times. Today, Andrea’s here to share what she's learned.
In this Overcomer's Podcast special episode, we're exploring a reality that is a tough and difficult topic– abuse and how people can heal from it. We'll talk about how some people use others' weaknesses for their own gain, which is really sad. Andrea tells us stories about how she's supported people who've been hurt by abuse and violence, and why it's important to speak up if something doesn't feel right and to trust your guts about a situation.
She explains that no matter your age, it's never too late to heal from tough experiences, especially traumas. She also talks about how being hurt for a long time can cause problems in your body and mind. We'll learn how important it is to have experts who understand how to help.
Listen in to hear about how Andrea's group helps people who've been through hard times. They're like friends who know how to give the right advice. We'll also find out why it's okay to trust your feelings and why exercise can make your brain feel better.
If you’re someone that needs this… or you may know someone in need of this, you can share this episode to them… It’s never too late… You might find assistance from Andrea and her team or be able to offer your help.
